Leading maritime figures support Chicago Propeller Club revival

Chicago Propeller Club has held its second event in a month as the club looks to recharter following a 15 year absence.

Guests from some of the leading maritime organisations on the Great Lakes attended reflecting Chicago’s status as America’s principle interior port connecting to the Atlantic and Gulf of Mexico.

⚓ Guests from across the blue and brown water maritime spectrum attended from ship owners and barge operators to boatyards , equipment makers, Government agencies and professional services companies reflecting Chicago’s status as America’s principle interior trade route to the Atlantic and Gulf of Mexico.

⚓Special thank you to our speakers Rebecca Spruill Yackley director of Great Lakes St. Lawrence Seaway Development Corporation who gave us insights into expanding shipping and cruise industry trade on the Great Lakes. Erik Varela meanwhile the executive director of ILLINOIS INTERNATIONAL PORT DISTRICT set out his vision for attracting investment into the port as one of the city’s prime economic assets.  Dr William Beer meanwhile founder of Tunley Environmental discussed how US ports can decarbonise and access funding like the new US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) $3billion clean ports program

Chicago Propeller Club was one of the first to charter in 1933 as part of the International Propeller Club network.

Today the IPC is the world’s biggest maritime networking organisation with more than 70 clubs worldwide and 5000 members.
